The DShK isn't 14.5mm, it's 12.7mm. The 14.5mm thing is an entirely different weapon (the ZPU series). In fact, I think it's a post-war thing because I can't find any references to it in WW2. Just the DP, the DT, the DShK, and the Maxim. Anyway, as to the DShK (as in 12.7mm), I've shot both it and the M2. I rather like the M2 better. The DShK is chambered in 12.7x108mm. The M2 is chambered in .50 BMG (12.7x99mm Nato) that would be the American M2 Browning "Ma Deuce" in .50cal and the russian DSHK "Dushka" in 12.7mm, both heavy machine guns that have been in service for many decades. The M2 Machine Gun (Browning .50 Caliber Machine Gun, Ma Deuce) is a heavy machine gun designed towards the end of World War I by John Browning. It was nicknamed Ma Deuce by US troops or simply called "fifty-cal" in reference to its caliber. The design has had many specific designations; the official designation for the infantry type is ... The DsHK was very, very unpleasant and loud as fuck compared to the M2. The concussion is nasty compared to the M2 as well. I'd give a fair comparison of unreliability to the M2 as well without lots of oil. A bitch to disassemble but did not need spacing and timing done after reassembly. Tripod was lighter as well. (But with titanium tripods ... the m2hb fires at a lower rof, taked that as you will. Reliblity, unknown (to me) for the russains, superb for the the m2. The nsv was not noted for its long range accuracy. The m2 is, the kord unknown at this time (me) both the nsv and kord use long stroke gas piston designs with the m2 using short-recoil.
