Tatsuki Fujimoto has done it again with his hard-hitting one-shots, with his latest being Goodbye, Eri. His previous one-shot titled Look Back was a huge success and garnered a lot of praise for his sensitive storytelling and artwork. It was especially emotional, as it was a tribute to the KyoAni arson attack in 2019 where 36 people died. Goodbye, Eri is almost dreamlike in its presentation as if the reader, much like the plot itself, could interpret that the whole experience of Yuta is all in his head. The strange paranormal events that Yuta experiences, whether they were real or not, bestow upon him a reason to live. Ultimately, that is the power behind this manga. After her death, Yuta meets a mysterious girl named Eri, who takes his life in new directions. The two begin creating a movie together, but Eri is harboring an explosive secret.
